Club Fantastic: Live Edition
As part of SF EVOLVED and the Club Fantastic team, I organized Club Fantastic: Live Edition, a hybrid rave-gaming concert event at the world famous DNA Lounge nightclub in San Francisco. The event was held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 9PM to 2AM. Photography provided by Studio F4.
Goals
- Host a rave dance party featuring 6 Club Fantastic artists (producer-DJs): om_neb, Dylan James, Voia, Synthion, T2KAZUYA and Rhythmics
- Expose fans to fresh talent in the electronic music industry
- Combine an EDM concert with Club Fantastic arcade dance gaming
- Provide a post-lockdown milestone event for the Bay Area dance game community
- Support independent electronic music in San Francisco
- Ensure the safety, health and hype of all attendees
Team Output
Over a 3 month period, the Club Fantastic team accomplished the following:
- Booked and coordinated a complex concert event with DNA Lounge
- Marketed the event with over 100,000 social media impressions
- Designed, produced and sold exclusive tshirts and stickers
- Constructed a freely playable Club Fantastic dance machine in a separate room
- Broadcasted the event live on Twitch
- Attendance: over 200 persons throughout the evening, a resounding success
- Requested by DNA Lounge to return as soon as possible
Personal Involvement
My own responsibilities included concept, collaborating with DNA Lounge staff, event promotion, organization, relating with artists and management (travel, lodging, logistics), vibe design, broadcast video production, merchandising, and more. Notable contributions include:
- Planning, management and logistics for the event
- Crafted a popular cocktail for the event (the "Oceania 909") despite being 7 years sober and counting
- Helping friends and colleagues
- Creating meaning through art, making people happy and achieving a dream
Special thanks to Brittany Forks, Chelsea P, ranatalus, Dylan James, om_neb, Telperion and Josh, hiero., MMaker, xaimus, DNA Lounge staff and everyone involved with the Club Fantastic project.
